The 200 block of Vineyard Street was cordoned off for more than seven hours Sunday as Hot Springs police tried to negotiate a peaceful end to a standoff. Jonathan Burfeind, left, supervisor of violent crimes, looks on at the residence as Hot Springs police Lt. Larry Patrick responds to a radio call. Patrick said about five units responded to a welfare check call around 10 a.m. "We want to peacefully resolve the situation and get the gentlemen inside some help. We are working under the belief that there are possible weapons inside the residence, that's why we are taking such precautions for the individual and our officers," Hot Springs Police Chief Jason Stachey said.
