Asphalt paving operations on Highway 70 that began Wednesday will cause alternating eastbound and westbound lanes to be closed intermittently between 7 a.m. and 6 p.m. until March 17, according to Arkansas Department of Transportation officials.
The areas affected will be from half a mile west of Highway 128 to half a mile west of Crossroads Road.
To continue with the widening project, eastbound and westbound lanes of Highway 70 will be shifted as needed to new alignments within the project's 18-mile work zone between Hot Springs and Interstate 30. The shifts will continue through May 25, officials said, noting when temperatures allow, night construction may occur.
