Community singers are welcome to join in the presentation of the Christmas portion of Handel's "Messiah" on Dec. 2.

St. Luke's Episcopal Church, National Park College, the Hot Springs Music Festival, and St. Luke's Church will present the Advent and Christmas portions of Handel's "Messiah" at 7 p.m. Dec. 2. The chorus will be supported by professional instrumentalists and soloists.

Rehearsals for the chorus will be held at 7 p.m. on Thursdays, starting Oct. 18, at St Luke's Episcopal Church.

Interested singers may also contact Ferris Allen at National Park College, 501-760-6584, or email [email protected], to see if joining the National Park Singers' daytime rehearsals is an option.

The performance will be conducted by Lynn Payette, director of Music at St Luke's, and chorus director for the Hot Springs Music Festival.

"Thanks to the visionary leadership of Dr. James Arthur Smith, there was an annual presentation of the Advent and Christmas portions of this beloved masterpiece for many years," Payette said in a news release.

"We offer this performance in gratitude for all his efforts and hope it will be a rich and rewarding holiday experience for the performers and the audience alike," she said.

Singers are welcome to bring their own copies of the "Messiah," if they have one, and copies will be available to borrow for the performance.

Call Payette at 501-523-1653 or email [email protected] for more information.
