Business & Career Expo set Thursday

The Greater Hot Springs Chamber of Commerce's annual Business & Career Expo will be held Thursday at the Hot Springs Convention Center in Halls D and C.

The expo has long been a premier business networking and trade show in the region, bringing Hot Springs businesses, job seekers, innovators and entrepreneurs together under one roof for a day of fun, opportunities and networking, the Chamber of Commerce said in a news release.

Participating businesses will connect with other businesses and customers.

"It is a great way for businesses to find leads, customers and receive visibility to the Hot Springs community," the release said.

"Attendees will be able to discover new products, services, technology and offerings from local businesses. Also, those searching for a job will be able to connect with quality employers wanting to fill positions," it said.

The day will begin with a "power breakfast" sponsored by National Park Medical Center. The expo hall will open to exhibitors and chamber members only from 8 to 10 a.m. to allow exhibitors time to network with other participants and members of the business community.

The expo hall will be open to the public from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., while exhibitors from the greater Hot Springs area will represent their businesses and career opportunities.

The IdeaFame Live Business Pitch Contest will be held from noon to 1 p.m. in the middle of the expo hall. During the pitch contest, contestants get 60 seconds to pitch their best business idea. The contest is modeled after the TV show "Shark Tank," and contestants compete for $2,000 in prize money.

"The chamber has held the expo for more than 20 years, and it is a great way to make business-to-business connections or find new products and services from businesses in the area," the release said.

The expo is made possible with the help from Candlewood Suites, Datamax, and National Park Medical Center.
