A local landlord was arrested Monday morning after allegedly punching a female tenant in the face several times while trying to evict her from her residence.

Gary Tyrell Dobson, 26, of 602 South St., was taken into custody at his residence shortly before noon and charged with third-degree battery, a misdemeanor punishable by up to one year in jail. He was later released on a $1,000 bond and is set to appear Jan. 7 in Garland County District Court.

According to the probable cause affidavit, around 11:30 a.m. Monday, Hot Springs police responded to 600 School St. regarding a battery and made contact with the alleged victim and the alleged suspect, identified as Dobson.

The woman said Dobson, her landlord, was in her residence when she got home about 10 minutes earlier. She said she confronted him when she found him inside and he told her he was there to evict her.

She said she told Dobson he would need to give her notice to quit because she had a lease and he "began throwing her belongings around the residence."

The woman said she pushed Dobson in an attempt to get him to stop damaging her property and at that point, Dobson allegedly punched her in the face. Officers noted the victim had a large knot on the left side of her forehead and that her injuries were consistent with her account of the incident.

When questioned, Dobson stated he and the woman got into an argument about her being evicted. He reportedly admitted he did grab a table and began to slide it across the floor when she pushed him.

He allegedly admitted that he then punched her three times, the affidavit states, so he was taken into custody.
