Yellville singer/songwriter Randy Aufdem-Brinke will be featured this week at Wednesday Night Poetry at Kollective Coffee+Tea, 110 Central Ave.

The regular open mic session for all poets begins at 6:30 p.m. Aufdem-Brinke will perform at 7 p.m., followed by another round of open mic. Admission is free and open to all ages.

A native of Washington, D.C., Aufdem-Brinke has lived in Marion County for the past 30 years. He is a general contractor, builds furniture and makes music. He started playing music when he was 16 and has performed in clubs throughout Maryland, West Virginia, Pennsylvania, Florida and Arkansas.

He began writing music when he was 22. "Most of my songs are autobiographical, and tend to be ballads," Aufdem-Brinke said in a news release. "My musical heroes are James Taylor, Cat Stevens, America and the Eagles."

Aufdem-Brinke first played at Wednesday Night Poetry during an open mic session this past November. He was in town to visit his brother.

"He showed up with his guitar and local drummer Julie Alexander," WNP host Bud Kenny said in the release. "They had just met that afternoon at a private jam session. Their performance brought the house down. I saw him perform again at a private party on New Year's Eve. This man knows how to pen a ballad and has some great licks on the guitar. Everyone who heard him agreed we had to have him back to be a feature at WNP."
