FAYETTEVILLE -- On the eve of her graduation from Lake Hamilton School, Jenny Peake ended her high school athletic career Thursday with another typically strong performance.

An all-state performer in basketball as a senior, Peake placed ninth in the state high school heptathlon. Twelfth overall last year, she jumped from 12th place after the first four events Wednesday at Fayetteville's Ramay Junior High and totaled 3,745 points.

Pre-meet favorite Tai'sheka Porchia, of Camden Fairview, won by 153 points over fellow senior Breya Clark, of El Dorado. Porchia did not win an event but placed second in the shot put and discus and no lower than eighth in any of the seven. Second by 39 points to Maumelle's Claire Luellen last year, Porchia totaled 4,463 points.

Clark won the long jump Wednesday with 18 feet, 9.75 inches and tied two others for first in the high jump Thursday at 5 feet, 1.25 inches.

Completing the top five were Blakelee Winn (Pea Ridge) with 4,463, Carly Strong (Sheridan) with 3,940 and Desi Meek (Decatur) with 3,887. Strong won the meet-opening 200-meter dash in 25.03 seconds.

Peake had top-10 finishes in the long jump, discus, high jump and shot put.

Jessieville teammates Jill Robertson (3,124) and Jaidyn Fortenberry (3,006) placed 34th and 45th, respectively, and Lakeside's Bethanie Witherspoon (2,846) 53rd.
